Good marketing/social media marketing boils down to a few core principles.

These principles work in every language, every market, and every type of business. Heck, they probably even work on other planets.

When I first heard these three principles, it hit me like a ton of bricks—everything I thought I knew about marketing was wrong. We've all been told that price is king and that running discounts will boost sales. But seriously, when was the last time you saw a 20% off sign at a Gucci store?

When you focus on these core marketing principles, the world is your oyster.

1. Message

Your marketing needs a message that’s clear, powerful, persuasive, and compelling.

It can be intriguing, even fascinating, but above all, it has to cut through the clutter and grab attention. We're bombarded with bad marketing every second of every day, so if your message doesn't stand out, it’s as good as invisible.

Avoid clichés like "we're cheap" or "we're the best."

Instead, gear your message towards what excites and interests your target audience. Make them sit up and say, “Tell me more!”

2. Audience

You’ve got to know who your message is for, so you can tailor it to them.

It’s impossible to create a message that speaks to everyone. Trying to do so will leave you talking to no one.

Identify who has the highest chance of converting.

A quick and easy way to do this is by looking at your top customers and figuring out what interests or similarities they share.

Focus your efforts on this specific group rather than trying to appeal to everyone. Trust me, it's a game-changer.

3. Medium

Once you've got a rough idea of your message and the audience you want to reach, you need to figure out how to get that message in front of them.

Social media has made this super easy, with most platforms allowing for precise targeting.

But don’t just take a shot in the dark—test your approach on a local scale and optimize your reach based on what you learn.

Let me show you how this works with a simple example:

Business: Michelin Star Restaurant

Message: "Treat your loved one to a truly world-class, romantic fine dining experience at the Aurora Jutan Michelin restaurant."

Target Audience: Couples aged 35 to 55 with disposable income, within a 50 km radius of Memphis.

Medium: Instagram and Facebook ads targeting the specified demographic and location.

There are plenty of different messages, target audiences, and mediums that can work for your business. So don’t be afraid to mix and match and test multiple combinations.

P.S. If you’re hitting a bottleneck at any point in your advertising or sales process get in touch and we will be happy to take a look at your marketing for you.
